Kerrygold Nations Cup Teams And Rider Update

There
has been a change of rider in the British team and a change of horses
in the French & Belgium teams for the 2002 Kerrygold Nations'
Cup which will take place 3:00pm on Friday 9 August 2002.
Kerrygold
Nations' Cup Teams
Great
Britain - William Funnell will be coming to the Show with horses,
Cortaflex Amber du Montois, and Cortaflex Machiavelli. He replaces
Scott Smith and his two horses.
France
- Christian Herman's horse, Galop de Beaumont, will not be travelling
to the Show, he will have only one horse, Ephebe For Ever while
Patrice Delaveau will be bringing three horses: Envoye Special;
Frascator Mail; and Lotus.
Belgium
- Phillipe Lejeune will now be bringing horse Maike instead of Prins
Ramiro.
Seven
teams will compete in this year's Kerrygold Nations' Cup - Great
Britain, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland and
Ireland.
Great
Britain has had the most number of Nations' Cup wins in Ireland
since the competition started - 22 in all. They last won the competition
in 1996, and won the trophy out twice, having won three years consecutively
(1953 and 1975). Ireland has won the competition 20 times, winning
the trophy out in 1937 & 1979 with their last win in 2000.
Individual
Riders
Ricardo
Jurado from Spain, who competes as an individual rider, brings horses
Falcon Internet Gysmo and Falcon Internet Piz Palau while Mexican,
Jaime Guerra, has withdrawn due to an injury to his Grand Prix horse.
On the home front, Darragh Kerins from County Sligo will compete
as an Irish Individual. A son of a former international Francie
Kerins, Daragh now competes on the USA circuit. His horse is called
Notre Dame.
