Janney Elected Chairman of Blood-Horse Publications

KY, August 11, 2003-- Maryland horseman Stuart S. Janney III has
been elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Blood-Horse
Publications. Janney assumed the post of Chairman on August 4.
Janney
is the Chairman of Bessemer Trust Company and Bessemer Securities
Corporation, North America. He sits on several industry boards,
including Breeders Cup, Keeneland Association, Maryland
Million, New York Racing Association, and the Thoroughbred Owners
and Breeders Association (TOBA), where he also served as Chairman
of the Board. Janney is a member of the Jockey Club and served
as steward from 1996-2000. His familys racing and breeding
operation has a long and successful history. Among the numerous
stakes winners in recent years was Grade I winner Coronado's Quest.
Janney resides in Butler, Maryland.
Janney
succeeds G. Watts Humphrey Jr. Humphrey, who stepped down as chairman
after serving in that role for 15 years, was re-elected to a five-year
term on the Board and to the post of Vice Chairman. Under Humphreys
leadership, Blood-Horse Publications grew from a single
title publishing operation to a diverse, multimedia publishing
house. Revenues multiplied several times and service to the industry
was advanced on numerous fronts.
