Carey
Pushes Fuchs At Gijon |
IRELAND'S
Lt. Shane Carey gave world leading rider Markus Fuchs of Switzerland
a run for his money in the Speed Class at Gijon (Spain) today (Thursday),
finishing just .20 of a second behind him in the event's major Speed
Class.
Clem
McMahon, riding <Dark Flight>, took sixth in the same class,
turning in a blistering speed of 64.99, but paying the price by
having one fence down, leaving him with a total time of 68.99.
Riding
the 11 yr old Chestnut mare <Laughton's Lass>, Shane Carey
repeated his finishing position in yesterday's opening class on
the same horse, when he trailed just under two seconds behind Belgium's
Gregory Wathelet.
Irish
riders are preparing for Saturday's Nations Cup, which although
not a part of the Super League, is nevertheless seen vital in preparing
yet another Irish squad for performance at this elite level.
