Wales Win Mounted Games World Team Championships
After
four qualifying competitions Wales emerged victorious at the World
Mounted Games Team Championships at Kentucky Horse park, Lexington,
Kentucky, USA.
Champions
in England in 2002, they were pre-match favourites. The team of
Christian Jones, Alex Jones, Boo Price, Jo Dale and Huw Whitney
- trained by Clive Jones - were pushed to the final race by France,
who took the silver medal position by just one point, finishing
on 58.
England
(Choc Adcock, Elaine Trevor-Jones, Richard Pringuer, Ross Elliott
and Vicky Thomas - trained by Alastair Elliott finished with the
bronze medal on a score of 52. The home team of USA were fifth one
point behind Canada - World Champions in 2001 - who were fourth.
Both Canada and USA had the adavntage of using their own ponies
with all overseas riders using borrowed ponies.
In
total 14 teams from throughout the world travelled to Kentucky.
