Jayne
Wins National Junior Hunter Championship

Charlie
Jayne, 17, of Elgin, IL, riding In Sync (Thoroughbred: Excavate
Horns Girl, by U Pos Ent), finished in the top spot
to win the second annual Monarch International/USAE National Junior
Hunter Championships East Coast. The championships were
held August 11 12, in Lexington, KY. Jayne and In Sync
finished the three phase competition, judged by Frank Willard,
Betty Oare and James Toon. Jayne was awarded the Monarch International
Perpetual Trophy, and a Triple Crown custom cooler. In addition,
Monarch International donated a Show Circuit Magazine letterman
jacket and a crystal trophy awarded for one year. In Sync is owned
and trained by Alex Jayne.
Finishing
in the reserve spot was Lauren Van Eldik, 17, of Ocala, FL, riding
the Don Stewart, Jr. owned and trained Hilton (Dutch Warmblood).
Riders
qualified for this event by winning a champion or reserve champion
at an A rated Junior Hunter Division at a USA Equestrian
competition.
The
winners of the Scholarship Grant Fund of $1000 each were Danielle
Vijan of Westerville, OH, Courtney McKay of Ocala, FL, Whitney
Snyder of Manhattan, KS, Kristina McKay of Wildwood, MO, and Karlyn
Wilhelm of Moorpark, CA. Applicants wrote an essay about what
riding has meant to them and how the grant would affect their
lives. The grant is to be used for educational purposes. These
scholarships were made possible through the generous donations
of Christina Schlusemeyer, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Evert, Hedgerow
LTD and the Roper Family, Elvenstar Farms and James Hagman, and
Cathy Mendez and Waldenbrook Farm.
Miracle
(Oldenburg), owned by Christy Russo and ridden by Alexandra Skiffington
of Wellington, FL, was awarded the War Dress Memorial perpetual
trophy. This award is presented to the highest scoring mare in
the competition.
USA
Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of the
U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship
sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show
jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines
of equestrian competition. As
the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation
has over 80,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions
nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including
educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates
who officiate at these shows.
