Peter Storr became
National Dressage Champion for the second consecutive year at the Mercedes-Benz
National Dressage Championships in Warwickshire, 21st – 23rd
September, where the cream of British Dressage riders and horses gathered
to contest National Championship titles at all levels.

Nicky Barrett won the Butchers Pet Care Grand Prix on Saturday, but had
Peter Storr and Emile Faurie hot on her heels with all three riders' scores
within one percent.
The title of National Dressage Champion 2001 was decided on Sunday, with
the scores from the Butchers Pet Care Grand Prix Kür being added to the
Grand Prix scores from the previous day. Peter Storr and Gambrinus scored
74.31%, which put them 3% clear of Nicky and Giorgio S, and well into
the lead. A superb performance by Emile Faurie and Reuters Rascher Hopes
put him into second place, but Peter's dazzling display had confirmed
him as National Dressage Champion 2001.

There was tension
in the air on Saturday evening too. In the floodlit Blue Waters Hotel
Intermediaire 1 Kür, 21 year-old Becky Moody took the lead with the bay
gelding Kwadraat. However the last combination to go was Carl Hester,
who won the Horsehage Medium Open Championship earlier in the day with
Dolendo. In this class he rode the 17hh bay gelding Toblerone IV and
snatched victory from Becky by just 0.67%. Completing his hat trick on
Sunday, Carl won the Winergy Advanced Medium with the 16.2hh bay gelding
Escapado
Despite being pipped at the post in the Blue Waters Hotel Intermediaire
1 Kür, Becky Moody and Kwadraat did not go home empty handed. They won
the Derby House Saddlery / Dressage Horse International Prix St Georges
with 69.75% and the Passier Intermediaire 1 with 69.35%.
Another successful combination was 14 year-old Anne-Marie Perry and the
15.2hh bay gellding Forrest Fire, who won the Kraiburg Elementary Restricted
Championship with 66.67%.
