The Mane Event 2001 Results of the EQUITANA Art Awards Club EQUITANA Schools Program EQUITANA Official Photographer announcement Saddle Horse Championships THE MANE EVENT - DANCING WITH HORSES Nothing affects human emotion like music and no dance requires the same degree of mental bonding as that of rider and horse. In the Mane Event 2001, we will showcase this combination in a musical journey that will appeal to just about everyone - no matter what his or her "horsey" preference may be. The level of equine entertainment will be a combination of the best Australia has to offer plus some special overseas guests: World-renowned Dressage celebrity, Anky Van Grunsven, will open the show each evening with a beautiful freestyle "waltz" performance on Mary Hanna's "Pretender", revealing why she so deservedly received gold during the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Direct from the USA, Michael Pariseau is bringing his finest Friesian stallion, 'Willem S' and, just for some contrast, his pure white Shire stallion 'Illusion'. Michael's 'boys', will combine the elegance of classical movements in an upbeat dressage solo by Willem, with the incredibly difficult "tango in tandem" act, which take your breath away! Our very own bush poet, Guy Mclean, will have audiences misty eyed with his new poem "The Dance of the Horse", written especially for EQUITANA 2001. Singing star Lee Kernaghan, will join our sliding and spinning National Reining Association horses with a rocking live performance. Steve Jeffereys will delight audiences with a brand new "ballet" as Jamieson and special guest, 10 year old daughter Ashleigh; join him in the beautiful "Toy Story" piece. And, renowned movie trainer, Heath Harris will present "Girls, Girls, Girls & Horses", a world class singing, whipcracking and trick riding group whose youngest member is only 5 years old! A very special feature of the Mane Event 2001 is the final performance by "Fortuno", Jose Mendez' wonderful Andalusian stallion. Fortuno is going into well-earned retirement, so don't miss the chance to see this beautiful performer for the last time. This is only a taste of the thrill you will experience at this year's Mane Event. Bigger, better and more exciting than 1999, 'Dancing with Horses', promises to delight all.
