Eventing - Irish Take A Tumble On Cross Country Stage
The
Irish Eventing team at the World Equestrian Games slipped from 6th
to 8th place overall today (Saturday) as two of its four members
were eliminated following falls on the strong cross-country stage.
Neither of the riders or their horses was seriously hurt, but under
FEI rules, neither competitor can now continue.
Sasha
Harrison (All Love du Fenaud) and Eric Smiley (Macloud) were the
fallers today, and are now eliminated from the world championships
at Jerez.
However,
individually, after the cross country stage, the remaining Irish
competitors are now placed as follows, with the show jumping element
concluding the three-day event tomorrow (Sunday).
(Ireland's
show jumping team of Kevin Babington, Cian O'Connor, Peter Charles
and Dermott Lennon will start their competitions next week.)
