EQUITANA Brisbane 16-24 November 2002 October News Update

With EQUITANA less than two months away, we have had hundreds of enquiries from people who would like to start planning their days at the event. As a result, we will be posting an education schedule on the website - www.equitana.com.au - which will detail session times for all of our educators. This information will be available for viewing by mid-October.

ORGANISE YOUR DAYS AT EQUITANA
One day really is not enough to experience all that EQUITANA has on offer. For a fun (and not too hectic) day out you may like to take the following into consideration:

* Pre-plan your day by viewing the education timetable at www.equitana.com.au (available mid-October).
* Arrive early at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (10.00am start) so that you can walk around the exhibition at an easier pace. For those who are apprehensive about carting around purchases all day, there is a cloakroom available for you to store your goods.
* Check out which competitions are taking place each day - www.equitana.com.au - so that you don't miss the ones that are of interest to you.
* Most educators are appearing daily, so if you don't catch them one day - don't despair, you can catch them at another time.
* Make sure that you have pre-booked your Mane Event and Clinic tickets so that you don't miss out.


THE MANE EVENT - 12 Spectacular Acts!
With over 60 horses - from Andalusians, Friesians and Warmbloods, to Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Stockhorses and Quarter Horses, the Mane Event is a two and a half-hour entertainment spectacular where the horse really is the star!

* TANIA KERNAGHAN, will perform songs from her latest album "Big Sky Country" and will be joined by top reining stars, Warren Cox, Warren Backhouse, Jason Wordsworth & Wayne Williams in a spinning and sliding country music romp
* Acclaimed American stunt rider, TAD GRIFFITH, riding star of films such as "The Mask of Zorro" and "The Patriot", will astound you as he executes a two-horse performance of 'Roman Riding'
* Tad will then be joined by DEB BRENNAN and ZELIE THOMPSON, two of Australia's best trick riding ladies in a series of daredevil stunts that will leave you gasping for breath.
* Our brilliant Sydney 2000 Opening Ceremonies quadrille team has designed an all new, action-packed 16-horse musical ride
* Aussie favourite, STEVE BRADY will execute a brilliant training performance as he takes us to the circus
* Arthurian Knights in full medieval costume will captivate you with a jousting tournament
* Direct from his starring role in the Man From Snowy River, "home-grown" hero, Steve Jefferys, will take you on an adventure to rescue the Heroine from the baddies - with some help from Jana the Wonder dog and Stockhorse "Drummer"
* World Number One Dressage Champion ULLA SALZGEBER will perform the classic "KUR" in her winning style
* DAVID SIMONS and SCOTT ROGERS will show us some amazing 'Cowboy Dressage' with live Bluegrass fiddle players
* 'English ladies' in satins and silks will perform an elegant side-saddle Pas de Deux
* ARABIAN HORSES will provide a real to life reenactment complete with SALUKI DOGS, a Bedouin bazaar and wonderful costumes in "TheArab's Farewell to his Steed"
* Four of Australia's top barrel racing beauties will take your breath away as they cover the arena in record time!

ULLA SALZGEBER - Only Australian appearance
Visit EQUITANA Brisbane for the chance to learn from the current World Number one Dressage rider - Ulla Salzgeber.

Ulla will be presenting an exclusive three-hour specialist clinic on Friday 22 November, in which you will learn training techniques for horses and riders from the beginning stages of training through to Grand Prix - a not to be missed experience!

EQUITANA BRISBANE ART AWARDS RESULTS

The standard of competition for the second annual EQUITANA Art Awards was fantastic, and choosing a winner was no easy feat. After much debate, the judges finally decided on Barb Rainger from NSW, with her stunning drawing titled 'What D'ya Reckon?'

Barb and her winning piece will be featured in the EQUITANA Official Program and will be displayed in the EQUITANA Art Gallery at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, 21 - 24 November.
