Aachen
(GER) to Host World Equestrian Games 2006
Jerez
de la Frontera. HRH The Infanta Doña Pilar de Borbón,
President of the Fédération Equestre Internationale,
today (18 September 2002) announced that Aachen, Germany, would
host the 5th World Equestrian Games in September 2006.
"Following
months of presentations and discussions with both Aachen and Kentucky
and the two NFs, the Executive Board of the FEI today awarded
the hosting of the World Equestrian Games 2006 to the German Equestrian
Federation and Aachen. It was an extremely difficult decision
as both venues presented outstanding bids and have such a rich
equestrian heritage. We now look forward to building on the undoubted
success of Jerez 2002 by hosting the world equestrian family in
Aachen in 2006. We also look forward to Kentucky to continuing
to host many major international equestrian events with the FEI
in the future, as we all
know the exceptional quality of their events".
The
FEI Executive Board also announced that it would host a joint
Press Conference with the President of the German Equestrian Federation
and representatives of WEG 2006 Host Venue Committee on Thursday
19 September at 13:00, together with the President of Jerez 2002
Organising Committee, Mr Pedro Pacheco.
