Rucco Emerges as Victor in Charles Owen Adult Medal Finals
Massachusetts Rider Tops a Field of 53 at Marshall & Sterling
League National Indoor Finals
WORCESTER,
MA (September 17, 2003)The Marshall & Sterling League National
Indoor Finals commenced today at its new indoor venue, Worcesters
Centrum Centre in Worcester, Massachusetts. Riders from all parts
of the country have traveled to Worcester to compete over the
next five days for the blue ribbon in 11 hunter divisions, 6 jumper
divisions, the HBO Junior Medal Finals, and the Charles Owen Childrens
and Adult Medal Finals.
On
the first day of competition, Dyanna Rucco of Rehoboth, Massachusetts,
emerged as the victor from a class of 53 entries in the Charles
Owen Adult Medal Finals. Rucco was presented with a grand prize
of a Charles Owen helmet and a Charles Owen cooler. Rucco trains
with Katie Sykes at Acres Wild Farm, Plainville, Massachusetts.
Her mount for the competition, Equity, is owned by Chuck Mayer
of Boston.
After
the first round of competition, a tie for twelfth place resulted
in a total of 13 riders being called back for a second trip in
the ring. Erin Doyle of Kensington, New Hampshire, was sitting
in the top spot at the beginning of round two, but a command performance
by Dyanna Rucco clinched the national championship award. Ruccos
final score was 85.01, almost a three-point lead over Doyle with
a second place score of 82.09. Alyssa Korotkin of Larchmont, New
York, finished in third place with a score of 81.92.
Charles
Owen, founded in London, England in 1911, is a leading manufacturer

In
other competition, Danielle Dill of Hornell, New York, captured
first place in the $2,500 Adult Amateur Jumper on her mount Callaway.
Frank Graham Jr. of Elmhurst, New York, came a close second on
his mount Manny Too, and Zara Davies of Annville, Pennsylvania,
finished in third place aboard Waiting For Godot.
