Welfare Centre Open Day and 2nd Annual Farriery Competition
|
Saturday
6 September, ILPH Glenda Spooner Farm, Hoarwithy, Herefordshire
ILPH
(International League for the Protection of Horses) Equine Ambassador
ILPH Bob the Cob will be Guest of Honour this Saturday September
6th, when he will be at the charity's Herefordshire Centre Open
Day to meet his fans.
As
well as meeting Bob, visitors to the centre will be able to go on
a farm tour, listen to a talk by David Simmonds FWCF (HONs) on the
training of farriers in nearby Hereford and about his work in Ethiopia.
Horse and pony owners will be pleased to know that there will be
a secondhand tack stall and horse owners and horse lovers alike
will be able to get to know lots of rescued horses and ponies too.
Running
alongside the Open Day the Centre is holding its 2nd Annual Farriery
Competition when there will be three classes, Class 1 Open Shoeing,
Class 2 Restricted and Class 3 Apprentices.
Thanks
to the generosity of the sponsors, Three Counties Equine Hospital,
Breakaway Horseshoes (suppliers of shoeing steel) and C. Swan (portable
forges) the competition promises to be hot, with plenty of local
interest and very attractive prize money. Those farriers or apprentices
wishing to enter the competition should call 01432 840253 or 01432
890374.
Public
entry to the Open Day is free and the gates are open from 11 am
4pm.
