TV VET STARS AT EQUINE EVENT Celebrity vet Sally Kingsley, from TV’s ‘Vets in Practice’ programme, is talking on a wide range of everyday healthcare issues as part of the Healthy Horse Focus at this year's British Equine Event, 3-4 November at the NAC Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. In a series of lecture demonstrations, Sally is highlighting the latest advances in wound management and recovery procedures as well as routine therapy such as poulticing and hot and cold therapy. Horse owners will also have the chance to pick up advice from her on bandaging and dressing wounds, the basics of healing, optimum healing environments and knowing when to call for immediate veterinary assistance. As well as covering the fundamentals of practical stable management for horse owners, the Healthy Horse Focus has demonstrations on bridle, rug and saddle fitting and the use of travel and exercise bandages. Karen Pearson, equine expert at the Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE), explains "These talks give horse owners the ideal chance to check that they are getting the basics right and to prevent future problems from occurring." A joint enterprise between the RASE and Robinson Animal Healthcare, the Healthy Horse focus has something to offer both experienced and new horse owners. It is just one of a number of attractions at the British Equine Event which features a packed two-day demonstration programme starring some of the world's top equestrian personalities, over 300 specialist trade stands, ‘Talking Horses’ Seminars and a feature on horse breeds. The British Equine Event is organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of England in association with Your Horse and is sponsored by Dodson & Horrell Ltd, Eqvalan and Intervet. It has fast become known as the biggest event of its kind offering everything for the horse and rider. http://www.equineevent.org.uk/ |
