Ride Raises Money for Rescued Horses |
Wet, miserable weather
didn't deter 85 riders who took part in a sponsored ride on
Sunday, September 23rd through West Harling Wood, near Thetford.
£1,450 was raised for the ILPH (International League for the Protection
of Horses) by
valiant riders who braved the weather, the majority of whom opted for
the 15 mile ride,
although shorter distances were available.

Top fundraisers were Sue and Vic Newlove of Mildenhall who raised £150
and
received horse accessories, a bottle of wine and a year's free ILPH membership
for
their efforts.
Comments Nadine Hawkes, ILPH Operations Support Manager, "Thanks
to the
generosity of all our sponsors, riders and volunteer helpers, the day,
despite the
weather, was a resounding success.
"Thanks too must go to our grooms who raised sponsorship and, on
their day off,
brought our horses and ponies along to the ride. Public outings of this
kind are an
invaluable part of the horses' rehabilitation programme."
Prizes were kindly donated by Glebe Farm Saddlery of Fakenham, Tigga's
saddlery
of Thetford, and Bunch of Grapes Catering of Dereham.
It is hoped that a similar event will be organised in the Spring.
