James
Gray MP, shadow minister for the countryside, was elected President
of the Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) at their forty-eighth
annual conference and dinner, last Monday 14th October. He takes
over from Harry Greenway MP who held the post for a number of years.
More
than 100 riders, proprietors, instructors and managers attended
the conference, which provided a stimulating programme of presentations
including horse passports by James Gray MP, carrying
out a risk assessment by Charlie Lane and using riding
holidays to grow the market by successful riding holiday business
proprietor Wendy Hofstee of Unicorn Horse Trails.
Duncan
Brown Chairman of the ABRS said: The excellent turnout for
our conference reflects the increasing awareness amongst riding
school proprietors of the importance of working together to represent
the interests of the professional.
