"High
Octane" Featured on Hollywood Park Invitationals
On July 25, 2002 Tom Chapman received a letter from the Turf
Club Director at Hollywood Park, Aimee Smith. Aimee explained
that she was looking for a new artist to showcase during the
year in the Turf Club and invited Tom to be that artist. Feeling
very proud, indeed honored and overwhelmed by Aimee's letter,
Tom began painting our September 25 - November 1 Contest Painting.
The painting depicts 6 horses in a blanket finish on the Hollywood
Turf course. The painting is an 18'' x 36'' oil painting done
on canvas. In addition to inviting Tom to display his art
in the Hollywood Turf Club, Aimee asked if they could also
use an image of his painting "High Octane" to be
used on the invitations for their upcoming opening night reception
to be held Nov. 8. Shown here left is the cover of the Hollywood
Park Turf Club Invitation featuring Toms image of "High
Octane", which Tom Chapman received from Aimee Smith,
on October 14, 2002. |
As a point of interest, I would like to add that the 36"
x 18" original oil painting of "High Octane" was
sold just last month. Original paintings of; America Rides, The
Sun Sets on Churchill, Shades of Speed, and our untitled painting
(shown in the Contest ad below) will be displayed, along with
several of Toms Giclee prints on canvas. The winner of our Name
That Painting contest will be posted here, as well as some personal
information or short bio, about our winner, following the contest
which concludes on November 1st.
