Dairygold
Indoor attracts show jumping cream |
The cream of Irish show jumpers travel to Millstreet, Co Cork, this
weekend for the four-day Dairygold Indoor Show.
Beginning
today (Thursday, Oct 30), it offers a prizefund of 30,000 euro,
making it one of the richest shows in the country. Riders competing
at the show will include Waterford's Francis Connors, who recently
won an unprecedented seventh national title, Clare's Joan Green,
Tipperary's Shane Breen, Robert Splaine from Cork and Kildare's
Edward Doyle.
The
feature competition will be the Dairygold Grand Prix, starting at
4pm on Sunday. As a warm-up there is a one-round speed class that
is sure to get the adrenalin flowing and the Green Glens indoor
rocking.
A
worthy rival to the grand prix is Saturday's Dairygold Indoor Derby,
worth 2,000 euro to the winner. The day's entertainment ends on
a high-octane note with a team event for hunt clubs over natural
obstacles, before the appearance of Abbaesque for a free concert.
