Devon & Cornwall Horsewatch: Stolen Ponies
Shetland X Mare and 2002 Colt Foal
Log No.: 912 of 27-9-02
Location: Dunnabridge Common, Dartmoor
Time and Date: Last seen 25-9-02
Details:
Mare
is a light chestnut with flaxen mane and tail. She is branded on
near side shoulder with the letter R with a "_" on top
of the letter. She has a notch in her left ear.
Her
colt foal has a cream coloured body with black appaloosa type spots
mainly on rump area. Described as an exquisite foal "one that
only comes along once in a lifetime"
The
ponies were grazing an enclosed area of Dartmoor with the herd.
They could usually be found near the Ice Cream Vendor on the common
so were relatively de-sensitised to humans. It is believed that
they were stolen from the common although the owner is searching
other areas of Dartmoor. The ponies could not have got out unless
someone had opened the gates and they are the only two missing.
