Crickhowell
and District Pony Club Mounted Games Team prove that they are
just the best at stable management. |
It
is the first year the Crickhowell and District Pony Club Mounted
Games Team have qualified as one of the top six Pony Club Mounted
Games teams in the country -that in itself is a huge achievement.
They then competed for the Robinsons' Trophy and the Robinsons'
Prince Philip Cup at The Horse Of The Year Show held in Birmingham
over the last few days.
All
of the teams' ponies where stabled at Birmingham for the week and
as part of their duties, they had obviously to care and look after
their ponies, which were stabled in temporary stables. How they
cared for their ponies and how tidy the stable yard was, was judged
on a daily basis by people from different areas within the horse
world - which this year included British International Show jumper,
Di Lampard. Over the week Crickhowell
has been consistent and took the title from teams with much more
experience than they had, such as Eglinton from Scotland and Oakley
West, Bedfordshire.
The
Crickhowell team of: Sally Griffiths (15) from Crickhowell (Dorian),
sisters Sophie (14) and Aimee Richards (12) from Abergavenny (Jimmy
and Lucky), and the second pair of sisters Katy (15) and Holly (12)
Rauch from Newport riding Monty and Millie and Bethan Gold from
Crickhowell riding Jimmy.
Iain
Hopkins the team trainer from Coed Morgan, Llanarth, commented,
"the children really deserve this recognition. They have worked
exceptionally hard to qualify to compete in both the Robinson's
competitions and their hard work in the stables which is essential
to keep the ponies healthy and happy has paid off".
