Lennon Wins Again For Ireland
|
For
the second day running Ireland's Dermott Lennon has tasted victory
in the first ever show jumping extravaganza to be held at the new
Olympic Equestrian Center in Athens, which will be the scene of
next year's equestrian events at the Olympic Games.
Having
taken the Pegasus Speed Stakes on 'I Caesar' yesterday, the pair
were in sparkling form again this morning (Saturday) to raise the
Irish colours by capturing the Philippos Classic in the sweltering
Greek capital.
The
current World Number 1 Individual Rider, Lennon has clearly shrugged
off the injury that had plagued him since winning the World Individual
Crown in Jerez in 2001 - the first Irish rider ever to hold this
title.
Most
of the Irish team, under Chef d'Equipe Lt. Col. Gerry Mullins, are
resting for the remainder of the day in preparation for tommorrow's
Grand Prix event.
