Ireland's
emerging stars go for Athens Grand Prix glory
|
Six
Irish show jumpers will take part in today's (Sunday) Athens Grand
Prix - the first Grand Prix to be held at the new Olympic Equestrian
Center, which will be the setting for next year's equestrian events
at the Olympic Games.
The
Irish contingent consists largely of a new breed of international
competitors, who have carried the flag admirably since being called
on for international duty while Ireland's premier squad takes a
much-needed break after a demanding season of Super League Nations
Cups.
The
'young guns' are joined by the current World Individual Champion
Dermott Lennon, who has already taken two events at this meeting
(Friday and Saturday). Lennon rides Picobello Pleasure in today's
Grand Prix.
This
morning (Sunday) David Quigley finished 4th in the Kentavros Cup
on Ashdale Spirit. He rides Ashdale Futuro this afternoon.
Irish participants in today's Athens Grand Prix (commences 1pm Irish
time):
Ryan
Crumley with Baltimore
Michael Kerins with Polanski
Glen Leddy with Gold Fingers
Dermott Lennon with Picobello Pleasure
Paul O'Shea with Mahon Point
David Quigley with Ashdale Futuro
