The 120th National Horse Show Receives Support from Top Sponsor

Wellington, Florida October 31, 2003 Sponsors have
stepped up to the plate to support the prestigious, upcoming 120th
National Horse Show, which will take place at The Palm Beach Polo
Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida, from Wednesday, November
26 through Sunday, November 30, 2003. The competition at The National
will include over 400 of the best horses and riders in the United
States, showing in the equestrian disciplines of hunter, jumper,
equitation, dressage and ladies side-saddle. The National
is the culmination of a year-long qualification process.
Lexus will once again be the official and exclusive automobile sponsor
and will present The National Horse Show Jumper Championship. At
last years National, the Lexus exhibit was one of the most
popular. And this year will be no different: spectators will be
allowed to test drive Lexus vehicles in the Grand Hunter Ring
which will be transformed into some kind of obstacle course. Lexus
will donate $1 to The Wellington Equestrian Alliance for every test-drive
taken.
The top Palm Beach County newspapers, The Palm Beach Post and The
Palm Beach Daily News (a/k/a The Shiny Sheet), are back as sponsors.
The Palm Beach Posts National Welcome Stake and The Palm Beach
Daily News Adult Amateur Jumper Division will be amongst the
most exciting classes.
Chesapeake Petroleum, a supplier of automotive petroleum products
to car dealers and service centers, is sponsoring a couple of speed
stakes as well as being the presenting sponsor of The American Grand
Prix Championship.
Kilkenny Insurance, which has been a loyal sponsor of equestrian
activities in Wellington, including The National Horse Show and
The Winter Equestrian Festival over the years, is run by equestrians
Laura and Michael Whitlow. Kilkenny will be sponsoring the Amateur-Owner
Hunter Division (36 and over).
Bainbridge Companies, a developer of high-end apartment housing
based in Wellington, is sponsoring the Adult Amateur Hunter Division.
Richard Schechter, President of Bainbridge, is also an active equestrian.
The Village of Wellington will sponsor The National Pony Hunter
Classic, always one of the most closely-watched classes by enthusiastic
parents and friends.
Vanessa Symmons Redfern is sponsoring the regular working hunter
division in honor of her late husband, William Barlow Redfern. Mr.
Redfern was a well-known, amateur equestrian who passed away quite
unexpectedly last season.
Other top sponsors include: Nordstrom, the exclusive department
store soon opening at The Mall at Wellington Green; Plastic Surgery
of the Palm Beaches; Lazcar International, Inc., an international
equine air transportation company; Florida Coast Equipment, which
will be providing farm equipment to The National; Brookledge Horse
Transportation, one of the premier van transporters of horses on
the East Coast; and Florida Coca-Cola Bottling Company, which will
provide signage about The National throughout Wellington as well
as National advertising on its trucks.
