IRISH CONTINUE STRONG RUN ON NORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR

Cian O'Connor and <Waterford Crystal> finished Fifth in last night's
(November 7) World Cup Class at Toronto, continuing the strong Irish
performance on the current North American <Fall Tour>.

With the best riders from America - and some from South America - to beat,
the four-strong Irish team of O'Connor, Kevin Babington, Capt. Gerry Flynn
and Robert Splaine have been racking up wins and high placings since last
month, including the historic Nations Cup win at Washington on October 28.

Under Chef d'Equipe Lt. Col. Gerry Mullins, the riders and horses have also
distinguished themselves individually, with Kevin Babington winning the
<Leading Foreign Rider> Award at New York, together with a Sixth in the
Grand Prix, and Robert Splaine taking a Third in New York's <Welcome Grand
Prix> with <Coolcorron Cool Diamond>, while Capt. Gerry Flynn on <Rincoola
Abu> also took a Third in the $20,000 International Open Jumper at
Washington in October, among other high placings.

Perhaps the most remarkable performance has come from 21 yr-old Kildare
rider Cian O'Connor, whose horse <Waterford Crystal> has not had a fence
down in a major competition since before the Fall Tour, starting with a
double clear and a Second Place in the Oslo Grand Prix on October 14.

In North America, the combination has jumped clear in the Washington Grand
Prix/World Cup Qualifier (October 27), the Washington Nations Cup (October
28), the New York Grand Prix/World Cup Qualifier (November 4) and now in the
Toronto World Cup Class (November 8). Only time faults prevented O'Connor
taking the top slots in the Grands Prix, though <Waterford Crystal> also
gave him an equal Third in the Washington Puissance (October 26).

The Toronto Nations Cup takes place on Saturday (November 10) at 8 p.m.
Irish time.
