MEDIA AWARDS DEADLINE |
The deadline
for nominations for the ninth annual USA Equestrian (formerly
AHSA) Media Awards is Friday, November 23, 2001. The categories are:
Equestrian Publication of the Year, Equestrian Print Media - single article,
Non-Equestrian Print Media, Internet Media, Broadcast Media and Photography.
Nominations are invited from print and broadcast outlets.
A panel of media professionals
will judge the awards on November 30, 2001
and the winners will be notified by December 7, 2001. Presentations will
be
made during the USA Equestrian Annual Meeting, January 9-13, 2002 at the
Hilton Charlotte & Towers, Charlotte, NC.
The 2000 winners of
the awards were: JCR Sports/Blenheim Productions -
Electronic Media; Equus - Equestrian Print Media - publication; John Quirk
-
Equestrian Print Media - single article; Suzanne Bush - Non-Equestrian
print
media and Ross Hecox - Photography. The winner of the Daniel P. Lenehan
Trophy award for Overall Excellence was Equus magazine, published by
Primedia Publications.

USA Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of
the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship
sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping,
and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian
competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation
has over 77,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide
each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating
and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate
at these shows.
