Hurunui
Horse Treks received Qualmark approval |
It's
not a brand you'll see on any horse's rump, but the animals that power
Hurunui Horse Treks will be carrying their new Qualmark endorsement
with pride.
The
North Canterbury-based business is the first multi-day trek operator
to earn Qualmark-endorsed "Visitor Activity" status.
"The
endorsement shows our commitment to the safety of our clients and
guides, welfare of our animals, and consistent delivery of a quality
experience," says owner Rob Stanley.
The
Qualmark assessment programme is the result of years of work and
co-operation between adventure operators, the Adventure Tourism
Council, the New Zealand Tourism Industry Association, the Aviation
Tourism and Travel Training Organisation, the New Zealand Qualifications
Authority, and Qualmark.
"We
are proud to be one of the first adventure operators to have passed
through this process," Mr Stanley says.
Hurunui
Horse Treks was one of the businesses involved in the development
of the Qualmark programme for adventure operators.
"The
Qualmark assessment provides an independent audit of our systems,
processes, and performance to verify our company's status in relation
to the industry standard," Mr Stanley says.
The
Qualmark brand is being launched today (Monday October 21) at a
function in Christchurch which will be attended by George Hickton,
CEO of Tourism New Zealand and Fiona Luhrs, CEO of Qualmark.
