Charles Wins At Liege
|
PETER
Charles justified the recent acquisition of <It's Magic Max>
at Liege, Belgium, with a decisive win in the 1m45 Journal Spectacle
Trophy last night (Saturday).
Charles,
who took home prize money of 3,225 euros into the bargain, was at
the centre of a controversy earlier this year when the English-owned
nine yr old bay gelding - regarded as a possible Olympic horse for
the British team - passed into the hands of the Irish rider, and,
therefore, the Irish show jumping team.
<It's
Magic Max> has shown some good form in recent months under the
experienced eye of his new rider, but this win at Liege, against
a formidable startlist containing some of Europe's best riders and
horses, will confirm to selectors that Peter Charles is still very
much a force to be reckoned with.
