Lennon Wins At Stadthalle, Austria
|
IRELAND'S
world champion show jumper Dermott Lennon showed a notable return
to form tonight (Friday) at the Horse Festival show in the Vienna
Stadthalle, Austria.
With
his main horse, the Irish-bred <Liscalgot>, out of action
for some time due to injury, Lennon has has a mixed run of luck
on the international circuit for the last number of months. But
in Vienna tonight, he won the show's second main competition, the
1m50 Jump-Off Romerquelle Prize, and picked up 2,500 euro in prize
money.
Riding
the 13 yr old Dutch-bred bay gelding <Impact>, Lennon proved
a good second faster than Mexico's Sabtiago Lambre, and also showed
a clean pair of heels to such show jumping luminaries as German's
Helena Weinberg, Switzerland's Willi Melliger and Britain's John
Whitaker, in a massive field of 56 competitors..
Earlier
in the evening, Lennon signalled he was back on form in Vienna with
a fourth place in the opening competition on <I Caesar>.
