Premier
showjumping venue asks for licence to host weddings
Couples
will soon be able to marry overlooking the world's best-known showjumping
arena at the All England Jumping Course, Hickstead.
The
showground, acknowledged as the home of British showjumping and
known internationally for its meticulously-prepared International
Arena, has invested in extensive refurbishment to transform the
top floor of its viewing stand into luxury banqueting and function
rooms
"We
have also applied for a civil marriage licence so that we can host
weddings and receptions, as well as meetings, conferences and private
or corporate dinners," said Hickstead founder and owner Douglas
Bunn.
The
arena can be used to land helicopters flying in bride and groom
and important guests. Work is also in hand to floodlight it at night.
Up
to 240 guests can be accommodated in the new, glass-fronted suite
which will be available for bookings all year round.
"It
will be a unique facility," said Mr Bunn. "I think it
will be something really special for couples to look back on as
well as an unusual business and social venue."
