United States Hunter and Jumper Association Formed
To Represent Hunter/Jumper Discipline
NEW YORK, NY - A new equestrian association, the United States Hunter
Jumper Association (USHJA), has been formed in response to the overwhelming
need to create a national affiliate representing the hunters and jumpers
currently under the umbrella of U.S. Equestrian, the National Governing
Body of equestrian sports in the United States. The new association
was created when a group of nationally recognized owners, riders,
trainers, judges and stewards met in Newark, NJ, November 3 - 4, to
formalize the development of an organization that would provide national
representation for the hunter and jumper disciplines.
The
mission of the USHJA is to unify and represent the interests of
all levels of participants, promote and enhance the hunter/jumper
disciplines and provide educational resources that will benefit
both members and horses.
Although
the USHJA is early in its development, a Board of Directors has
been appointed with the intent to file an official request for affiliation
with the U.S. Equestrian Federation.
