Chester Weber Named USET Athlete of the Month for November

Gladstone, New Jersey –December 1, 2001– Veteran United States Equestrian Team (USET) driver, Chester Weber of Ocala, FL was named USET Athlete of the Month for November following his victory in the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) Indoor World Cup of Driving in Stockholm, Sweden November 30-December 1.

Weber was second in the Warm Up class on Friday and then finished with the fastest time of 89.94 seconds on Saturday in the FEI World Cup International Driving competition. Germany’s Christoph Sandmann was second and Swedish driver Frederik Persson was third.

Weber was among the ten international Four-in-Hand drivers who qualified for the FEI Indoor World Cup of Driving. In addition to Weber, Sandmann and Persson, reigning World Champion Tomas Eriksson of Sweden also competed and finished in fourth.

Each of the ten qualified drivers, plus one wild card driver, will compete in four of the eight events and will accumulate points over the course of the competitions. With a win at Stockholm and a third place finish at Stuttgart, Weber currently has 15 points toward the 2001-2002 World Cup Championship.

The World Cup started on November 17, 2001 in Stuttgart, followed in two weeks-intervals by Stockholm, Amsterdam and Mechelen. After a break of six weeks, the World Cup resumes on February10, 2002 in Bordeaux, followed by Dortmund, ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Gothenborg.

This summer, Weber finished in 7th place at the CHIO Aachen placing above four World Champions. In 2000, he finished in 13th place in individual competition at the FEI World Four in Hand Championships in Wolfsburg, Germany.
