Program - Essay Contest
Bob
Jeffreys, founder of Partnership Training for Horse and Rider,
clinician, author and horse trainer, announces the establishment
of the Partnership Training Young Adult Scholarship. In an ongoing
effort to promote education and a deeper understanding of horses,
as well as more effective, gentle training techniques, Bob and his
clinic partner, Suzanne Sheppard, offer the opportunity for anyone
between the ages of 16 years to 21 years who is interested in learning
how to train horses to enter an essay contest. The first prize will
be a full scholarship ($2000.00 +value) to Level 1 of Bobs
Trainer Education Program in 2003. The second place prize will be
a free attendance in one of the Extended Foundation Clinics held
at Jeffcrest Ranch. The third place prize will allow the entrant
to participate in a Foundation Clinic free of charge.
Each
contestant will write and submit an essay (1000-1200 words in length)
by December 31, 2002. A panel of 5 Judges will chose the winning
essay, as well as second and third place. The subject of the essay
is Why I Want To Be A Horse Trainer
.and How I Will Help
Both Horses and Riders Make Breakthroughs.
The
first place essay will appear on our website, as well as in print.
Essays
will be judged on content, persuasiveness, and originality. Entrants
do not have to have previous experience with horses, but do have
to possess a commitment to hard work and a strong desire to learn!
Entrants
must be a least 16 years old, and no older than 21 years, by May
1, 2003. Those 18 years and younger must have written permission
from a parent or guardian.
The
winners will be announced by March 1, 2003.
In
Level 1 of the Trainer Education Program participants learn all
aspects of groundwork, the foundation of horse training. Each will
learn how to work in the round pen, to spook train, to teach a horse
how to do advanced level leading, trailer loading, the Very Special
Safety Lesson, and much more! Level 1 is held at Bobs Jeffcrest
Ranch in Middletown, NY. The session is two weeks long, July 7-11,
and July 14-18.
All
participants should send their typed, completed essay to Jeffcrest
Ranch at 168 Tamms Road, Middletown, New York 10941. Be sure to
include your name, address, date of birth, telephone number and
email address, if applicable.
