NH Charitable Horse Rescue Farm Holding Fund Raiser
December 15 - 18th at Concord Walmart to Save Pregnant Mares Slated
for Slaughter
Live and Let Live Farm, a charitable, non-profit, horse rescue shelter,
located in Chichester, New Hampshire, will be holding a fund raiser
December 16th - 18th, 3:00 - 6:00pm at the Concord Wal-mart. Money
raised will help rescue mares slated to be slaughtered.
Premarin
is a hormone replacement for women that is made from pregnant mares
urine (www.premarin.org). Since recent medical studies have warned
of negative consequences of Hormone Replacement Therapy, demand
for Premarin has fallen by a third.
A
major pharmaceutical company that uses pregnant mares to make Premarin
is downsizing, and closing one third of their farms. Because of
this, 20,000 pregnant mares (40,000 lives) are scheduled to be sent
to slaughter in January of 2004.
Live
and Let Live Farm, is working with a rescue group, United Pegasus
(www.unitedpagasus.com) to get six of these mares saved. Cost for
each pregnant mare is $1000, and this includes transportation, innoculations
and purchase.
Live
and Let Live Farm will have a table at Wal-mart, Route 106, Concord,
December 16 - December 18th from 3 - 6pm to raise the $6000 needed
to save these horses. Farm volunteers and ponies will be there,
giving you a chance to learn more about Live and Let Live Farm and
the work we do (www.liveandletlivefarm.org) and the life-saving
quest we are on.
If
you are interested in adopting one of these mares, or would like
to donate to our cause, please stop by the Concord Walmart Dec 16
- 18th, or contact Live and Let Live Farm Directly at info@liveandletlivefarm.org
or 603-798-5615. With your help, we can make miracles happen in
the stable again this holiday season.
