USA Equestrian Trust Elects Leadership

Lexington, KY (December 12, 2003) – The board of directors of USA Equestrian Trust, Inc., meeting by teleconference on Wednesday, December 10, elected officers to lead the reformed corporation. The Trust was formerly known as USA Equestrian, and was re-named and reorganized December 1, when the United States Equestrian Federation officially became National Governing Body for equestrian sport.

Elected President and Chairman of the Board was Karl V. Hart of Ocala, Florida, a long-time director of USA Equestrian and its predecessor organization, American Horse Shows Association. Hart is an attorney who breeds and exhibits Arabian horses, and is a past director of International Arabian Horse Association. The 9 directors elected Edward S. “Ned” Bonnie of Louisville, Kentucky, Vice President. Bonnie has also served as a director of USA Equestrian, was a co-honoree with his wife Nina for the sport’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002, and is an attorney and all-around equestrian enthusiast. For Secretary, Linda Allen of Salinas, California, was elected. She is an author, clinician, judge, official, and internationally renowned Course Designer for Jumpers, whose credits include the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and most recently CSIO Dublin, Ireland in 2003. The new Treasurer is Georgie Green, of Allen, Texas, another long-time director of USA Equestrian, a present director of United States Equestr
The other 5 directors of the Trust (with primary breed or discipline interest) are: Jean Blackstone, Georgia (Arabian); Edward E. Emerson, North Carolina (Eventing/Endurance); Stephen O. Hawkins, New Jersey (Hunters); Marianne Ludwig, Florida (Dressage); and Judith Werner, Illinois (American Saddlebred). Each of the Trust’s board members have lengthy records of service throughout the committee structures of the sport’s governing organizations.

USA Equestrian Trust, Inc., formerly USA Equestrian, is a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to assist in preserving and/or enhancing the quality of equestrian sport in the United States. To do so, it specifically supports the programs and activities of the sport’s NGB, U.S. Equestrian Federation, and is enabled as well to support other organizations and programs benefiting equestrian sport.
