Lake Placid And I Love New York Horse Shows Fact Sheet

WHAT: The Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows

WHEN: Lake Placid Horse Show: June 26 – 30, 2002,
8:00 am-5:00 pm
I Love New York Horse Show: July 3 – 7, 2002, 8:00 am-5:00 pm

WHERE: North Elba Showgrounds, 501 Cascade Rd., Lake
Placid, New York, across from the ski jumps.

FEATURING: One of the nation's largest hunter-jumper horse
shows with more than 1000 horses competing
each week, the Lake Placid Horse Shows feature two AGA Grandprix Series
events:
the $50,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake
Placid on Sunday, June 30 and
the $50,000 I Love New York Grandprix on
Saturday, July 6.

SPECIAL: The nation’s best horses and riders, including
Olympic veterans and World Cup champions, headline the list of competitors.
Expected to return this summer to defend her Grandprix titles is Margie
Goldstein Engle who in 2001 became only the third rider to sweep Lake Placid
’s two Grandprix events in one year.

Horse Club Junior Day takes place on
Friday, June 28 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. This is an educational and fun
event with activities such as a stable tour, jumper course walk, farrier
visit, and question-and-answer seminar on safety in and out of the ring,
plus giveaways, a raffle, and an autograph session.

On Saturday, July 6 at noon, the Lake
Placid Horse Show Association will host the 10th
Annual Doggie Costume Contest sponsored by Lonesome Landing of Saranac Lake
and the Brown Dog Deli of Lake Placid. All people with leashed dogs in
costume are admitted free. Ribbons and products from the sponsors are
awarded to the "top dogs" of the contest and treats are given to all
entrants.

Horse Shows is $2.00 on weekdays
