Wiebe Dragsta Driving Clinic Coming To New York!

The New York State Registered Haflinger Association has kicked off the 2002 New Year with plans for a driving clinic to be presented by Wiebe Dragstra, of Southern Pines, NC from May 10-12. Wiebe is best known in the Haflinger world as former driver for Tudor Oaks Farm. He has successfully competed in the singles, pairs and four-in-hand divisions at many of the top CDE and pleasure driving shows across the country.

On Friday, May 10th, a “Meet the Clinician” dinner will be held at the historic Lincklaen House in Cazenovia, New York, where there will be a delicious meal, free-flowing conversation and (most likely) a little flowing of wine, too. Private and semi-private lessons for all ability levels will follow on May 11th and 12the at the Morrisville College Arena in Morrisville, New York. Pre-registration is required for the dinner, lessons and stalls. Auditors are also welcome ($). Contact Karen Young at dyoung@baldcom.net and (315) 784-5840 or Deb Parker at hqh@linkny.com and (607) 695-2323 for detailed clinic information. This is a wonderful opportunity for drivers to take a lesson from one of the best! All breeds, horses, ponies, mules and minis are welcome to attend.

Also, for anyone interested in staying in the area a few extra days, the Haflinger Division of the New York State Breeders Show will be held the following week on May 16th and 17th in Syracuse, NY, just about ½ hour from the clinic site. The show offers halter, riding and driving classes for all registered Haflingers. Contact Buzz Barr at barrshaflingers@webtv.net or (315) 626-6996 for more information on the show.
