CHAPOT CAPTURES $5,000 SPEED CLASS

WELLINGTON, FL -- FEBRUARY 21, 2001 - US Equestrian Team Veteran, Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, NJ was in the winner's circle aboard the Dutch Stallion, Hamar in the $5,000 AmeriChoice Open Speed Stake at Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Equestrian Club on Wednesday.

Chapot was fault-free over the jumping course in 56.173 seconds, defeating Jason McArdle, riding Nero Van Het. McArdle finished a clear round in 57.275 seconds, followed by the 25 year-old McLain Ward of Brewster, NY, who was clocked in at 57.361 aboard the Dutch Bred mount, Opus.

The Zada Enterprises, L.L.C. Wellington Masters continues through Sunday at Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club, with show jumping action daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Thursday's highlight is the $25,000 CWEF Challenge Cup Grand Prix at 1 PM. Tickets are available at the gate or by calling (561) 793-JUMP.
