AHSA APPROVES 2002 FIRST
QUARTER COMPETITION DATE APPLICATIONS |
The American Horse Shows Association (AHSA)
announced today that the 2002 Date applications for December 2001 through March
2002 have all been reviewed and the approval and/or permission letters have
been mailed to the show contacts. It is believed to be the fastest turn-around
time on date applications in the history of the AHSA. The second deadline for
2002 Date applications is May 15, 2001. Once this deadline passes, Christine
Ruddy, Director of the Competitions Department, will start approving
competitions that will run April 2002 through November 2002, in month order,
beginning with the Date renewals, then working on competitions that will have
changes in date, location, rating and new competitions for 2002.
"The Competitions Department has worked hard over the past few years
toimprove the system in which we process date applications. We made huge
progress in the turn-around time on the 2001 Date applications, but we are even
farther ahead of schedule this year and we hope to keep ahead of schedule with
the second deadline of May 15, almost upon us," said Ruddy.
The 2002 competition dates from December 2001 through March 2002 are currently
available on our website at www.ahsa.orgunder "Competitions".
The American Horse Shows Association, as the National Equestrian Federation of
the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports
of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting,
as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the
country's largest multi-breed organization, the AHSA has over 70,000 members
and recognizes more than 2,600 competitions nationwide each year. It governs
all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges,
stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
