SAUGERTIES, NY (June 14, 2001)--Horse Shows In The
Sun has announced that the second annual Kids Day at the HITS Tahoe horse show
circuit in Minden, Nevada, will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2001, from 10:00am
to 1:00pm. Officially titled "Resort Sports Network's Kids Day presented
by Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department and the Douglas County
Library," the event will provide free admission and free fun activities
for children 12 and under. A full acre of the 100-acre HITS Tahoe show grounds
will be devoted to Kids Day and the line-up of fun-and-games booths, live
entertainment, and educational exhibits. More than 1,000 children and their
parents are expected to attend.
Bruce Mulder of the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department and Linda
Wilson of the Douglas County Library have lined up dozens of the most popular
Kids Day festivities:

Resort Sports Network television crews will be on the grounds filming and Lloyd
Higuera of KGVM radio will broadcast live for the entire three hours. Food and
beverages will be available from the HITS on-site food service facility.
Following the Kids Day festivities, children and their parents are invited to
stay for the $50,000 EMO Grand Prix at 1pm. To cap off their day, the kids are
invited to an Autograph Session with the Grand Prix riders in the Grand Prix
ring following the victory lap.
HITS Tahoe is a four-week hunter/jumper horse show circuit that will be held
for the second consecutive year in Minden, Nevada, 12 miles from Lake Tahoe.
The horse show features approximately 300 competition classes each week from
June 27 through July 22. More than $800,000 in total prize money will be
awarded. The show grounds are open Wednesday through Sunday from 8:00am until
3:00pm. Competition is featured in six rings. On-site parking is free. No
charge for admission Wednesday through Saturday, adults are $5 on
Sunday--proceeds benefit local charities.

Highway 395 to Minden; at Stockyard Road, turn left; show grounds entrance is
on the left. From Lake Tahoe (about 12 miles), take Route 207 (Kingsbury
Grade), cross Foothill Road to Mottsville, proceed 3 miles; turn left onto
State Highway 395 North; turn right at Stockyard Road; show grounds entrance is
on the left. From Minden (about 2 miles), follow 395 North; turn right at
Stockyard Road; show grounds entrance is on the left.
