HOYS call in the Cavalry

The Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry are set to return to the Horse of the Year Show (2nd – 7th October) for the first time in seven years, with a display which combines traditional equestrianism and military precision, within an electrifying newly choreographed performance.

Mounted on beautiful black horses and resplendent in their red and blue tunics, gleaming steel cuirasses and plumed helmets, picked out under the HOYS spotlights, the Household Cavalry Musical Ride will captivate and enthral Horse of the Year Show audiences with their fast-moving and intricate display.

The Household Cavalry Musical Ride is made up of sixteen serving soldiers from the squadrons of The Blues and Royals and The Life Guards. The riders wear Full Dress, as used on all State Occasions, and are joined by the four State Trumpeters, mounted on Grey Horses and the magnificent Drum Horse.

We are extremely pleased that the Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry are joining us at HOYS this year” commented Grandstand Media’s Director Mike Gill, “After a long absence the Household Cavalry are returning with a new feel to the musical ride, which has been specially formatted for HOYS and is guaranteed to impress our audiences. The Household Cavalry Musical Ride complements perfectly the other displays and top class competition on offer, and ensures that once again the show provides a unique equestrian experience in an electrifying atmosphere.”
