WURZELS SINGLE WILL HELP FARMERS IN CRISIS
The NFU is delighted that the re-release of the
Wurzels song, due to appear on record shelves this Monday, will boost the NFU's
Supporting Farmers in Crisis fund.
Pop group The Wurzels, has decided with EMI Records to donate fifty pence from
each single sold to the NFU's fund, set up as a result of foot and mouth.
Their single 'Combine Harvester (Brand New Key)' hit the number one spot in the
charts 25 years ago and the 'Combine Harvester - 2001 Remix' looks sure to
continue this chart success.
NFU President Ben Gill said: "We are delighted that the Wurzels are
supporting Britain's farmers in this way.
"Foot and mouth disease has led to thousands of farming businesses
fighting to survive.
"I hope that donations from the sale of this single will push the crisis
fund to the £1 million mark."
The single is available in all good retail outlets as well as for online sale
at www.hmv.co.uk
