Help For Horse Riders
Ruth Mazet, equine "problem-solver" and trainer, has turned her attention to the Internet to help all horses get the chance in life that they deserve.

Written in a clear, upbeat and informative style, Ruth's is a very horse-centred method. She believes it's essential to understand WHY a horse behaves in the way it does, rather than simply trying - and usually failing - to impose a new mode of behaviour. Her methods demand that the trainer learns to think like a horse, and Ruth makes no secret of the fact that improvement involves dedication and effort to overcome the old, familiar way of working and to try something entirely new.

Deep in the heart of Texas Wild! exhibit, an American Paint Horse is the talk of the town
FORT WORTH-When officials at the Fort Worth Zoo needed a horse to take up residence in their new $40 million Texas Wild! exhibit, they naturally turned to their neighbors at the American Paint Horse Association (APHA).
Ollie Oops
They asked the Fort Worth-based association, which has registered more than 612,000 American Paint Horses since it was formed 39 years ago, if it could come up with a horse that would be an icon of the West, and Texas in particular.
After an extensive search for just the right horse, Jim Kelley, APHA assistant executive secretary, found one in nearby Weatherford, Texas. The easy-going, loud-colored gelding, which goes by the name Ollie Oops, was a standout. On behalf of APHA, Kelley acquired it and donated it to the zoo as a gift from the association.

18th June 2001 Topical Applications- The forgotten therapy for inflammation and injuries.
Too many visits to the doctor, and too many prescriptions for systemic drugs. Because of the changes to liniment formulas since the 1800's, many of the products available today just aren't effective enough to restore our confidence toward buying over the counter remedies for pain, swelling, and inflammation.
It's a quick fix situation that attracts consumers to the drug stores and the pill counter. Our grandparents still had the knowledge of using liniments for so many of the medical problems incurred from daily living and the difficulties of maturing in age. Other than a limited availability and a small selection of retail liniment products is the fact that we just do not think liniments when we have medical difficulties with ourselves, or with our livestock.

The Marwari Horse
The call thunders down the ages through the sands of time and fades into the desert air, a haunting remembrance to an era of chivalry and valour forever lost yet indelibly stamped into the spirit of Rajasthan. To know and love the Marwari is to re-enter the magical realm of our childhood, a world of castles and heroes, intrigues and passion, dark deeds and mythical horses.
horse
To ride a Marwari is to realise new levels of joy that demand in turn, a receptive stillness for its appreciation. It is to view the way ahead through a pair of perfectly curved ears, gateway to the heart of India's spiritual and ceremonial heritage.
The Marwari horse today is descended from the splendid war horses that served the ruling families and warriors of feudal India, throughout and from the beginning of that country's history. Their status was unparalleled, as they were declared divine and superior to all men, including those of Royal blood.
horse Accordingly, only the Rajput families and the Kshatriyas - warrior caste were permitted to mount these exalted animals. The Marwari is a gaited horse with several gears. Other than posting, cantering and galloping, he engages in the REVAAL. This smooth and comfortable gait with minimal vertical movement is used in the desert to cover long distances in great comfort. The unique characteristic of this breed are the remarkable curled ears which form a perfect arch when pricked forward.

Tribune, Williams Lake, B.C. Canada
There are few people who make a difference in this world today. Dan Franklin, a 47-year-old resident of 150 Mile House, B.C. Canada is one of them. He is a man who talks to horses on their level. He respects horses and you can see he has earned their respect.
This man has found that his gift can help others. Working with horses can help adults and children with special needs in many ways: have more self awareness and self esteem, improve their motivation, speech and communication skills, develop concentration and focusing skills, interact positively with co-workers and have self-respect. Also they will get a better feeling about their disability and how to deal with.
